I am really beginning to like Japanese movies. I am particularly on a Kurosawa trip these days. Can't get enough of him. Saw the Seven Samurai for the 4th time and saw it twice back to back the past weekend. Each time I see something new and marvel at his picturing of a frame.
This time all I saw was the breeze that he put in the various frames. :)
Also saw his Rhapsody in August, incidentally bang on (no pun intended) the 60th anniversary of the Nagasaki bombings. The old woman (Sachiko Murase) is quite a character to watch. She is the one character after Chunibaladebi in Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali who just swept me away.
Kagemusha however just seemed like a prelude to Ran which I have seen before and liked.
Next batch you say? Sanjuro, Yojimbo and Ikiru. This is one set of movies I will be watching for the first time.
